McCreary County EMS Director Jimmy Barnett announced that two EMS crew members, Amber Ball and Andrew McGavin, helped deliver a baby in the back of an ambulance last week.
The crew was dispatched to a residence Thursday morning regarding a pregnant woman experiencing labor pains. As they loaded her into the ambulance, the crew noticed the baby was crowning and began helping deliver the baby.
The baby, a boy, was delivered without incident and transported with his mother to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where both were declared healthy.
This is not the first time EMS crews helped deliver a baby. Barnet noted two babies were delivered last year, and several more in years prior.
