McCreary Countians will be tuning in to watch as their hometown favorite, twenty-five year old Zach Day, pursues his musical career during Season 18 of NBC’s highly rated television show, “The Voice.” Day’s blind audition aired on NBC on Tuesday night and successfully landed him a spot on Team Legend (John Legend). Two judges, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, turned for Day during his rendition of the song “Weak” which was a hit song by the 1990’s R&B group, SWV. After his audition, Day thanked his fans via a Facebook post and spoke of the desire to make his hometown proud of his performances on “The Voice.” Day grew up in Stearns and attended McCreary Central High School. His parents, Beverly/David Shook and Larry Day, reside in McCreary County. This is not the first time Day’s talents were spotlighted on national television. In 2014 Day appeared on “American Idol,” advancing all the way to Hollywood.
