Ambulance crew delivers baby

With all the craziness in the world today, here is a feel-good story for us to all enjoy.

A McCreary County Ambulance crew delivered a healthy baby last week while in route to the hospital.

According to EMS Director Jimmy Barnett Paramedic Cristin Hicks and Advanced EMT Lisa Harlan were dispatched to a residence off Highway 90 Thursday morning where a female patient was experiencing pain due to a late-stage pregnancy.

The crew loaded the patient in to the ambulance and began the transport to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

As the ambulance was passing through Burnside the woman went into rapid labor, and the ambulance pulled off at the Burnside Post Office to deliver the baby. The child was born without incident and mother and baby are doing well, Barnett said.

This was the second baby delivered by EMS crews this year. In 2019 two babies were also delivered by McCreary County EMS staff.
