The deadline for potential candidates to file for the 2020 General Election this November has been changed to Tuesday, June 2.
While the fall election will primarily be state and federal offices, including the Presidential election, three Board of Education seats will be included on the ballot locally.
To register to be a candidate for the local election, proper forms and a filing fee must be submitted to County Clerk Eric Haynes before the end of business on June 2. Previously the deadline for the General Election was in August, but the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted state election officials to move the date.
With the date for the Primary Election being moved forward to June 23, 2020, this also moved the deadline to register to vote, or make voter changes to Tuesday, May 26, 2020. If you change your party after December 31, 2019 you will not be eligible to vote in the June Primary.
If you have a question about voting absentee in the June Primary please contact the McCreary County Clerk’s Office, 606-376-2411
