Photos by Greg Bird and Eugenia Jones Last year’s free bulk item drop off was a huge success as hundreds of McCreary Countians took advantage of the offer. To be eligible to participate, you must be a current subscriber to garbage collection service.

McCreary County will be hosting a free bulk item drop off event on Friday July 10 and Saturday July 11 at the Transfer Station in Stearns. Times for collection will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
All McCreary County residents who are current subscribers to garbage service will be eligible to drop off large items, such as mattresses, old appliances, old furniture, etc. for free during the event. No household garbage, construction waste or hazardous chemicals (paint, oil, etc.) will be accepted.
Last year’s event was a great success as hundreds of residents took advantage of the free drop off day. Due to the potentially large crowd, please expect delays and be considerate of others when waiting in line.
For more information please contact McCreary County Deputy Judge Executive Nathan Nevels at 376-2413 or via his Facebook page.
