The Lake Cumberland ten county district reported 5 new Coronavirus cases, Adair County with one, Pulaski with one and Adair with three. There are currently 32 active cases in the district with 3 in the hospital and 29 in self-isolation. One new death due to the virus was reported.
McCreary, Clinton and Cumberland counties reporting zero new or active cases, Wayne and Green County each reporting one active case. Pulaski is reporting 8 current cases, one in the hospital and 7 self-isolating. Russell County is reporting 9 current cases, one in the hospital and 8 self-isolating. Adair County is reporting 4 current cases with one in the hospital and 3 in self-isolation. Taylor County had the largest increase of new cases with 3 new cases for a total of 6 current cases, all in self-isolation.
The Lake Cumberland District has experienced a total of 281 cases since the onset of the outbreak. A total of 27 deaths were reported, which has resulted in a 9.6% mortality rate among know cases in the ten county area. There are currently 222 cases recovered.
The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is urging people not to become complacent. The increased number of new cases reported in the last two weeks has the LCDHD reminding people to continue observing the guidance of wearing a mask when in public, avoiding crowds, social distancing and frequent hand washing. People with a pre-existing health condition or the elderly should stay home and avoid people as much as possible. People with a fever or cough should stay home.
The Lake Cumberland area has experienced 281 cases and the State of Kentucky has confirmed 12,833 Covid-19 cases across 119 counties.
