Today (Thursday, July 16) the McCreary County School Board is set to hold a special meeting regarding the upcoming school year. In this meeting, they will be discussing the upcoming school year’s options regarding how students will be attending school and looking at a potential new calendar.
According to Superintendent Corey Keith, they are hoping to offer two options, one virtual using Chromebooks and the other in-person, with students attending regular classes, so that parents will have a choice for their children. The School Board is also looking at pushing the calendar back, giving teachers and staff ample time to prepare for the year. This decision will be made in what they believe to be the best interest of the students, while keeping parents’ wishes and the guidelines set forth by Governor Andy Beshear in mind.
