Active Covid-19 cases reported in McCreary County continue to rise with the total at seven cases including a 2 year old girl and a 3 year old girl reported the end of July.

Active Covid-19 cases reported in McCreary County continue to rise with the total at seven cases including a 2 year old girl and a 3 year old girl reported the end of July. Across the Lake Cumberland Health ten county district, active cases are also seeing an increase. The area district has seen an increase of 49 cases in the past week, bringing the total number of active cases to 275 with 12 hospitalized, of those cases 38 are asymptomatic.
The Lake Cumberland District Health Department now reports a total of 1,201 cases and 40 deaths since the pandemic started. The sharpest increases have been in Pulaski and Casey Counties.
Pulaski County now has 94 active cases and 3 hospitalized, Casey County has 48 current cases and 2 hospitalized, Taylor County has 32 cases and 4 hospitalized, Adair has 22 cases and 1 hospitalized, Clinton has 19 cases with 1 hospitalized, Cumberland reports 23 cases, Green with 9 cases, Russell has 27 cases and 1 hospitalized and Wayne with 10 reported cases.
Across all 120 Kentucky counties, 32,197 Covid-19 cases have been reported and 751 deaths. Monday was the third highest day of new cases since the outbreak began. LCDHD reminds everyone that our citizens are our biggest asset to slow the spread of the virus. Everyone should continue to wear a face covering, avoid crowds, social distance, washing hands frequently, increase sanitation (wiping often used surfaces) and most importantly, avoid touching your face.
