Joshua Campbell, age 28, of Hicks Road, Whitley City was reported missing late on the evening of August 13, 2020. Sheriff Waters said he received a late night call from Campbell’s mother stating her son had left for work earlier that day and had not been heard from again. According to his wife Ashley, Joshua left for work in London at 4:00 am, kissed her goodbye as he always did, and had not been heard from again.
Early the next morning, Sheriff Waters called Campbell’s supervisor at work who verified he had not showed up for work that day. The Sheriff called the Williamsburg Police Department and reported Joshua Campbell missing. With Deputy Tom Smith, Sheriff Waters retraced Campbell’s route to work. Seeing no sign of Campbell’s car, Sheriff Waters attempted to locate Campbell’s cell phone. A ping was located within a 3.5 mile radius of the Williamsburg Cell Tower.
Williamsburg Police located Campbell’s car and body was just off Hwy 92 over an embankment. It appeared he may have ran off the road then over corrected, sending his car into a heavily wooded area not visible from the road. A memorial service is planned for this Saturday at 1:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, KY.
