Audit of McCreary County Clerk’s Fee Account released

State Auditor Mike Harmon released the audit of the 2019 financial statement of McCreary County Clerk Eric Haynes. The auditor noted no instances of noncompliance. He also noted no matters involving internal control over financial reporting and its operation that were considered to be material weaknesses.
The county clerk’s responsibilities include collecting certain taxes, issuing licenses, maintaining county records and providing other services. The clerk’s office is funded through statutory fees collected in conjunction with these duties. The audit found no instances of noncompliance or other matters that are required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards.
The audit was for the year ended December 31, 2019. Total receipts collected for the year were $2,482,807. Excess fees were turned over to the Fiscal Court. The audit found $6,575 in excess fees due to the County for 2019. $4,700 was paid to the Fiscal Court on February 10, 2020 and the remainder $1,875 paid at the completion of the audit. The audit was completed on June 4, 2020.
