A McCreary County girl was injured Friday evening after reportedly being attacked by a pit bull mix on Tunnel Ridge Road.
A three year old girl was reportedly playing in some gravels while at a neighbor’s house with her parents and sibling when the dog appeared and attacked her. The three year old was bitten multiple times, suffering wounds to her face. She was transported by McCreary County EMS to Whitley City where she was airlifted to University of Tennessee Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The three year old required surgery and stitches for the wounds to her face.
Animal Control Officer Milford Creekmore confiscated the dog and transported it for impoundment at the McCreary County Animal Protection League shelter in Strunk. The dog is on hold for ten days pending notification from the Health Department and a court order on what to do with the animal.
