McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reported the arrest of Tyler Mason Wednesday, November 11, 2020, suspected in two home robberies. Sheriff Randy Waters, Deputy Stuart Bryant and KSP Trooper Shaler Jones arrested Mason at his residence in Whitley City.
Last month a home on Edgewood Road, Pine Knot was broken into and a large portion of the contents of the home were stolen. More recently a home on Roscoe Sumner Road was also broken into and most of the contents were stolen from the home. Both homes were reportedly fully furnished at the time of the burglaries.

A recent Facebook posting of ‘appliances for sale’ showing a washer and dryer and freezer alerted Sheriff Waters that the advertised appliances could possibly be from the burglarized homes. The officers arrived at Mason’s residence asking to see the advertised appliances and identified them along with other items as being from the Roscoe Sumner Road residence. Additional items in Mason’s garage were identified as being from the Pine Knot residence. The Officers were able to recover most of the items stolen from the Roscoe Sumner Road residence.

Tyler Mason was charged with the alleged offense of Burglary, Second Degree and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. The Kentucky State Police and the McCreary County Sheriff’s Department is in charge of the investigation.
