McCreary Sheriff Randy Waters is asking the public for any information concerning the theft of a 2016 33 ton yellow Cub Cadet Wood splitter. The theft occurred Wednesday, November 25, 2020 around 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. on Century Road in Pine Knot.
The wood splitter was located on a twelve acre tract of land with five houses on the tract owned by family members. The wood splitter was behind one of the houses and not readily visible from the road. The wood splitter is vitally important this time of year because three of the families use wood to heat their homes in the winter.
Last Wednesday morning the thieves hooked to the wood splitter and hauled it off, but in their haste they hit a tree with the rear of the wood splitter knocking off a tail light. The Cub Cadet Wood splitter is yellow in color, missing a tail light and had a flat tire.
Sheriff Waters said there could possibly be a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for taking the wood splitter or for the recovery of the wood splitter. The Sheriff is asking for anyone who has information concerning the stolen Cub Cadet Wood splitter to call his office at 606-376-2322 or call 911.
The McCreary County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.
