Although blacktopping the hill section of road going to the river at Freedom Crossing in the western part of the County was a rougher job than a paving contractor was willing to attempt last summer, the McCreary County Road Department decided to tackle the needed work last week. Despite the rough terrain and limited equipment, County Road Supervisor Tony Kidd said the results from Friday’s efforts turned out decent-especially considering it was the local County Road crew’s first attempt at blacktopping.
“I hope our local folks are happy with the work,” Kidd said. “It should be a lot better and easier for the local folks going back and forth to church and other business in Wayne County.”
