The McCreary County Board of Education met earlier this week (Monday, January 11) to approve the use of an A/B School Schedule in the event students are able to return to in-person classes on Monday, January 18. If in-person classes resume next week, families of students who still do not feel comfortable with returning to in-person classes because of the COVID-19 pandemic will still have the virtual class option available to them. The A/B schedule will be implemented to aid with social distancing by lowering the number of students in classrooms at any given time.
With the A/B schedule, one group of students will attend in-person classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. A second group of students will attend on Wednesdays and Thursdays. All students will remain home for virtual learning on Fridays. By attending two consecutive days weekly, students will have more consistency, and teachers will be able to teach and follow-up with consecutive lessons.
In other business, Braxton King was elected Board Chair with Lori Foster as Vice-Chair. The Board also established seating/voting order for the coming year.
The McCreary County Board of Education meets in regular session on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00.
