McCreary Sheriff Randy Waters reported February 10, 2021 that Chief Deputy Tom Smith received a call from Pulaski County Detectives reporting a stolen Chevrolet 2500 truck from the Pulaski County Road Department, valued at $20,750. The detectives were tracking the truck by GPS and reported it to be travelling east on KY 92. Deputy Smith contacted Kentucky State Police Trooper Craig Reed who responded to the call.

Trooper Reed arrived at a residence on Poley Ellis Road shortly after the truck and observed a male standing at the back of the truck, which was loaded with firewood. A male and female fled on foot into the woods after seeing Trooper Reed. Trooper Reed gave chase and took them both into custody without incident.

Michael Lee Loudermilk of London, KY and Jamie L. Dugger of London, KY were arrested and charged for the alleged offenses of Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or More and Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (on foot) and lodged in the Knox County Jail.

The individuals said they needed the truck to get firewood for the family. Before leaving the residence on Poley Ellis Road, they were allowed to remove the firewood from the truck.

The Kentucky State Police, McCreary County Sheriff’s Office and Pulaski County Police Department are conducting the investigation.
