The McCreary County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder that local property taxes can be paid at the Sheriff’s through April 15, 2021. After that date, property taxes are delinquent and must be paid at the County Clerk’s office with a 20% penalty added. If delinquent taxes remain unpaid, property can be sold to a third party. Interested individuals who are delinquent on their taxes can go to County Attorney Austin Price’s office to establish a payment plan.
Despite an extended deadline for state/federal income taxes, the deadline for payment of property taxes was not extended by the state. Currently, McCreary County needs to collect 900 property tax bills.
