McCreary County elderly, widows, single parents, veterans, and low-income families have an opportunity to receive free Home Repair services provided by volunteer church youth groups from across the nation. The youth provide the service through AdventureServe Ministries, a non-denominational, non-profit organization dedicated to serving local communities and providing Christian wilderness and missions experiences to church groups.
AdventureServe Ministries, a non-denominational non-profit organization, offers their services to individuals and families of Appalachia and South/Central Kentucky.
AdventureServe will accept applications no later than June 1. Information about completing an application can be found at the end of this article.
Typical jobs completed by the group include: roofing, insulation, underpinning, painting, porches, vinyl siding, drywall repair/replacement, room additions, and various other jobs. They are not able to do plumbing, electrical, or roof work on mobile homes.
Materials are provided through donations from church youth groups, as well as private donations made by families who have the means and desire to assist the ministry.
Again, AdventureServe will accept applications through June 1. The application can be found on their website at www.adventureserve.org/home-repair-services-application or requested at:
