Traffic stop yields drugs, 2 arrested

The night of May 9, 2021, Sheriff Randy Waters reported Deputy Dustin Ridner observed a vehicle swerving back and forth several times across the yellow line on Hwy 1044 and suddenly turned into a driveway. Deputy Ridner initiated a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle, Timothy Wilson, exited the vehicle and told the Officer there was nothing illegal in the truck and that he could look. The passenger, William Coffey, had been observed stuffing something under the back seat.
A white pill in plain view was seen in the floor of the back seat and a broken pill was laying in the driver’s floor. Approximately 20 grams of a white crystal substance that appeared to methamphetamine and what was said to be cocaine folded inside a dollar bill was found.
Deputy Ridner arrested Timothy H. Wilson, age 39, of Pine Knot, KY and charged him for the alleged offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (>OR= 2 GMs Methamphetamine), Failure to Produce Insurance Card, No Registration Receipt, Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance, 1st Offense, Failure to Wear Seat Belts, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Cocaine), Possession of a controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified), Careless Driving.
William I Coffey, age 47, of Strunk, KY was arrested and charged for the alleged offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (> OR = 2 GMS Methamphetamine), Failure to wear Seat Belts, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified), Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree – Drug Unspecified.
Wilson and Coffey were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
