Call for Help

The Pine Knot Volunteer Fire Department and National Park Service responded to a call for help last weekend. The call came from horseback riders on a horse trail leading out of Blue Heron where one horse lost its footing and pinned its rider against a log. Volunteers from the Pine Knot Fire Department made contact with the group of riders about a mile down the trail. The riders were able to get the horse up, and neither the horse or rider were injured. The riders were from Virginia and camping in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
