Decoration Day

This year, the National Park Service revamped their annual Decoration Day event by adding a Cemetery Quest activity. This year’s Cemetery Quest began at the Ranger Station in Stearns where participants received packets with directions to several cemeteries in the Beech Grove/Bald Knob/Peter’s Mountain area of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and Daniel Boone National Forest. The packet also contained historical information about the cemeteries and posed questions for participants to answer in regard to each cemetery. After finishing the Cemetery Quest, participants returned to the Ranger Station with completed packets to receive a prize.
