Fiscal Court Meets

McCreary County Fiscal Court met in special session last week for routine business and to approve the first reading of Amendment Number 6 which increases the amount of receipts in Federal Grants for Fiscal Year 2020/2021 budget. The amended increase in receipts and appropriations consists of $1,673,460.00 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Federal Grant. The funding is a federal COVID-19 related grant intended to accelerate the U.S.’s health and economic recovery from the pandemic.

In other business, the Fiscal Court:
• Approved hiring of personnel for 911, Jail Transport, Seasonal Labor, etc.
• Approved purchasing a vehicle for jailer transport.
• Approved a list of surplus items.
• Approved payment of $15,000 to Tourism from a $50,000 Highland Telephone Grant. The grant was awarded for use with tourism and economic development. The tourism funds will be used for brochures and the county’s State Fair exhibit. $35,000 will be used for economic development by providing more Teleworks (work at home) training, computers for Teleworks, etc.
• Approved payment of bills.
