Grand Jury indicts Bytheway on Murder charges

An indictment of murder was handed down by the McCreary County Grand Jury meeting in regular session on May 10th, 2021 and filed on May 24th by the McCreary Circuit District Court. Ashley Bytheway, 36, of Whitley City, KY was indicted and charged with murder for the alleged offense of fatally shooting Brandon J. Probus, 31, of Pine Knot, KY on April 10, 2021.
The Kentucky State Police released a statement following the incident that read, “The preliminary investigation reveals that McCreary County 911 was notified of a verbal dispute involving Ashlee R. Bytheway, 36, of Whitley City and Brandon J. Probus, 31, of Pine Knot. During the investigation, it was determined Ashlee Bytheway shot Probus once while he was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Mr. Probus was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Pulaski County Coroner. As a result of the investigation, KSP arrested Ashley Bytheway on charges of Murder.”
KSP Detective Billy Correll is conducting the investigation and presented the evidence to the Grand Jury. Bytheway remains in the Knox County Detention Center on a $1,000,000 cash bond.

Louis Souleyrette was indicted for the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – Methamphetamine.
Joshua New was indicted for the alleged offense of Assault 3rd Degree and Disarming a Peace Officer.
Christopher Loy was indicted for the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – Methamphetamine.
Jacoby Perry was indicted for the alleged offense of Criminal Mischief 1st Degree and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
Ronald Clark was indicted for the alleged offense of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
