Speeding leads to drug arrest

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reported on Sunday evening, August 8, 2021, Deputy Aaron Tucker observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through Whitley City north bound on US Hwy 27. Deputy Tucker initiated a traffic stop and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the Deputy finding four ½ dose units identified as diazepam 5 mg, 16.9 grams, or 7.3 ounces, of suspected marijuana, 20 suspected ecstasy pills (a date rape drug), approximately 2 grams of a white crystallized substance consistent with methamphetamine and approximately 2 grams of a dark purple substance. Also found was a black handgun, identified as a Taurus 9mm, containing a loaded magazine of fifteen 9 millimeter bullets.
Brandon Lee Tucker of Beulah Heights was arrested and charged for the alleged offenses of Speeding 21 MPH over the limit; Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz.) 1st offense (enhancement); Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine); Illegal possession of a Legend drug; Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (date rape drug). Brandon Tucker was transported to the Knox County Detention Center.
The McCreary County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
