Drug arrest on Labor Day

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reported on the morning of Monday, September 6, 2021, Deputy Alex Jones was on patrol on Pigskin Road when he noticed a vehicle parked next to a church with a female sitting inside who appeared to be sleeping. When he approached the car he saw a male laying in the car and noticed a plastic baggie with a strong odor of what appeared to be marijuana laying on the seat beside the man. 

Deputy Jones asked the man to get out of the vehicle. The Deputy also noticed several items in plain view in the car. When asked if he had anything on his person the man emptied his pockets. A clear plastic container with approximately 4 grams of a crystal substance and another zip lock baggie with a white powder substance was among the items in the man’s pockets. 

Deputy Jones arrested Roscoe Lee Garland, Jr. of Stearns, KY without incident and charged him for the alleged offenses of; (1) Possession of a controlled substance, 1st Offense (methamphetamine) (2) Drug Paraphernalia – buy/possess (3) Possession of Marijuana.  Garland was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

The substances found will be sent to the KSP lab to be tested to verify the substance. The McCreary County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
