Grand Jury indicts 17
Voice Staff Report
The McCreary County Grand Jury met in regular session on August 9th, 2021 and indicted 17 individuals in 15 indictments. The Grand Jury made the following return on the individuals listed below.
Joshua Coffey of Day Ridge Road, Parkers Lake, KY was indicted on two counts. Count 1 states that on or about June 2, 2021, Coffey committed the alleged offense of: Assault in the Second Degree upon Frankie Coffey by cutting off her hair with a pocket knife, choking and bruising her thereby causing serious injury. Count 2 states that on or about the 2nd day of June, 2021 Coffey committed the alleged offense of: Kidnapping by tying her up and taking her into a wooded area and threatening to throw her off a cliff.
Jonathan Walters of Pine Knot, KY was indicted on two counts. Count 1 states that on or about April 25, 2021 Walters committed the alleged offense of Fleeing or Evading the Police in the First Degree by failing to obey signals of Constable Freddie Clark to stop a vehicle driven by Walters in an attempt to elude law enforcement officials while under the influence of intoxicants. Count 2 states that on or about April 25, 2021 Walters committed the alleged offense of Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree by having been convicted of a prior felony.
Danny Lee Ball of Stearns, KY was indicted on two counts. Count 1 states that on or about June 20, 2021 Ball committed the alleged offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having in his possession, for the purpose of sale, a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance. Count 2 states that on or about June 20, 2021 Ball committed the alleged offense of Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree having been convicted of a prior felony.
Teresa Gregory of Pine Knot, KY was indicted for the alleged offense of Violating Graves by removing items placed on a grave, on or about July 1, 2021.
Justin Taylor of Pine Knot, KY, that on or about June 8, 2021 Taylor committed the alleged offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking of the Value of $1000 or More by taking a 2010 Chevy Cobalt of the value of $1000 or more owned by Joseph Jones.
David Scott Charles of Pine Knot, KY was indicted on three counts. Count 1 states that on or about June 23, 2021 Charles committed the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having in his possession a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance. Count 2 states that on or about June 23, 2021 Charles committed the alleged offense of Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree by engaging in conduct which created a danger of death or serious physical injury to Betty Charles. Count 3 states that on or about June 23, 2021 Ball committed the alleged offense of Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree by engaging in conduct which created a danger of death or serious physical injury to Dewayne Charles.
Vanessa Ross of Monticello, KY was indicted on two counts. Count 1 states that on or about June 21, 2021 Ross committed the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having in her possession a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance. Count 2 states that on or about June 21, 2021 Ross committed the alleged offense of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants, First Offense.
Carl Vanover of Parkers Lake, KY was indicted for committing the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by possessing a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance, on or about July 11, 2021.
Joseph Jones of Stearns, KY, that on or about July 25, 2021 Jones committed the alleged offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having in his possession a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance.
Ashley Martin of Whitley City, KY and Rowdy Rose of Stearns, KY were indicted on three counts. Count 1 states that on or about July 26, 2021 the named defendants, individually or in complicity with another committed the alleged offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having in their possession, for the purpose of sale, a quantity of Methamphetamine, a schedule II substance. Count 2 states that on the same date the above defendants, individually or in complicity with another, committed the alleged offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, First Offense by having possession of a quantity of a controlled substance. Count three states that on the same date the above named defendants, individually or in complicity with another had items commonly used for the ingestion and/or distribution of illegal controlled substances.
George D. Watson of Stearns, KY, that on or about July 14, 2021 Watson committed the alleged offense of Assault in the Second Degree by stabbing James Watson with a knife causing serious physical injury.
Anthony King of Pine Knot, KY, that on or about July 1, 2021, King committed the alleged offense of Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon by having in his possession a .38 Caliber pistol after previously been convicted of a felony.
Ronald Huston, Jr of Celina, OH and Misty Kittle of Celina, OH, that on or about August 3, 2021, individually or in complicity with another, committed the alleged offense of Theft of Identity of Another Without Consent by using the names of Ronnie Ellis and Teresa King without their permission to avoid arrest.
Shannon Higginbotham of Parkers Lake, KY, Superceding Indictment to Indictment No. 21-CR-012, that on or about September 29, 2020, in McCreary County, Higginbotham committed the alleged offense of Burglary in the First Degree by entering the residence of Greg Goodin while armed with a weapon and causing physical injury to Greg Goodin.
