Free Bulk-Item Drop Off

With McCreary County’s free bulk item drop-off scheduled for October 22nd and 23rd, it’s the perfect time to begin preparing for winter by doing some fall clean-up of yards, garages, and homes.  The free drop-off will be held at the recycling center on Caterpillar Drive in Stearns.  The event will be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22 and 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, October 23.  County workers and volunteers will be available to help with unloading.  

The following guidelines are in place for the drop-off:

1. All who participate must be McCreary County residents and be signed up for garbage service with Scott Solid Waste.  Participants should bring a copy of their most recent bill for faster service.

2. No contractors, tires, or household garbage allowed.

3. No hazardous chemicals allowed-paint, oil, etc.  Old cans of paint will be accepted if the cans have been filled with cat litter.
