It will begin to seem a lot like Christmas when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in town this Saturday to participate in the annual McCreary County Christmas parade and other holiday events.
Kicking off his day (December 4) in McCreary County, Santa will make an appearance at the McCreary County Museum in Stearns so little ones can enjoy pictures and crafts with Santa and his helpers from 9:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. Families can have their pictures taken with Santa, make fun crafts, and receive a gift from Mr. Claus. Children ages two and under have free admission to the event. There is a five dollar admission fee for others. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Later, in the evening at 7:00 p.m. on Main Street in Whitley City, the McCreary County Tourism Commission will host this year’s annual Christmas parade with a theme of “Under the Stars.” Following the parade, Santa will appear on the Courthouse lawn for the lighting of McCreary County’s Christmas Tree. There will also be caroling, and trophies will be awarded to the entry winners for each category of the parade. Winners for the Christmas Window Painting contest will also be announced.
