Vehicle crashes into building

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reported a vehicle crashed into a building on Sunday, March 6, 2022 resulting in a large amount of damage.  McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Jones arrived at the scene on Cal Hill Road in Pine Knot to find a smoking 2018 black Ford Focus, severe damage to items within the building, and a woman sitting in the grass about 50 yards from where the vehicle entered the building.  Deputy Jones reported the woman had cancelled plates and was uninsured.  According to Deputy Jones’ report, the woman stated she was traveling at approximately 65 to 70 plus mph and lost control when she entered a curve in the road.  Inside of the building, the vehicle hit a 2004 Ford F-250, Dixie Chopper mower, and several tools.  The driver, twenty year old Malarine Lashae Smith of Bonnieville, KY, was checked out by McCreary County EMS but refused treatment or transport.  She was charged with (1.)  Speeding (26 MPH or > Speed Limit) (2.)  No Registration Plates (3.)  No Registration Receipt (4.)  Failure to Produce Insurance Card (5.)  Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Ins/Sec, 1st Offense (6.)  Criminal Mischief and (7.)  Careless Driving.
