He had fallen and couldn’t get up

A newly sworn-in McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy has already made a huge difference in the life of one McCreary Countian.
McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Dylan Brown was on his way to work when he spotted a 76-year old man who had fallen by the side of the road, just a few feet away from a railroad crossing behind Lumber King in Whitley City. The gentleman, who uses a walker for assistance and frequently walks from place to place, became dizzy, fell, and could not get up off the ground. The man’s arm was also bleeding. Deputy Brown lifted the gentleman up off the ground, contacted 9-11, and assisted the man until EMS arrived. The elderly gentleman was transported to Big South Fork Regional Medical Center in Oneida, TN where he was treated and released.
When asked about the incident, Deputy Brown expressed his thankfulness that all ended well.
“It feels really good to have helped him,” Deputy Brown said. “I wanted to be sure he was all right and safe.”
McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters expressed his pride in the young deputy.
“I’m proud of Deputy Brown for doing a good job,” Sheriff Waters remarked. “He did what we have always said we will do, and that is to serve and protect the people.”
