McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reports that drug-related charges were cited in the arrests of two Stearns residents on April 28, 2022.
McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Jones was on West HWY 92 when he observed a vehicle with a broken windshield, and the driver not wearing a seatbelt. Deputy Jones saw the vehicle turn onto Lee Patton Road and back into a small gravel area. Deputy Jones initiated a traffic stop and recognized the male driver as an individual with a suspended operator’s license. He also recognized the female passenger occupying the back seat as an individual with active warrants for her arrest. Deputy Jones asked McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Dylan Brown to detain the female. The female subsequently stated to Deputy Brown that she had Methamphetamine inside her bag. After verifying the status of both individuals, Deputy Jones received permission from the driver to search the vehicle and located cash, a black Case Logic bag containing a digital scale, one spoon, a silver bag with several baggies inside of it, and a bag that contained a crystal like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine. The female subject’s bag was also located in the vehicle, containing a crystal like substance appearing to be meth, a digital scale, and a cut pill identified as Buprenorphine. The female stated she knew about the meth and had given it to the male subject to hold.
