911 Dispatch Receives Grant

McCreary County EMS Director Jimmy Barnett recently announced McCreary County’s receipt of an award in the amount of $42,513.40 resulting from the approval of an application to the 2022 Kentucky 911 Services competitive grant program. The funds will provide a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) upgrade for the County’s 911 dispatch center. The CAD allows dispatchers to talk with all first responders through the console system. McCreary County Dispatch’s current CAD system is outdated with parts no longer available for repairs. The upgraded system will also easier to use than the previous system.

“We are happy to receive this grant,” EMS/911 Director Barnett noted. “All of our equipment eventually goes out of date, and the only other way we could afford a CAD replacement would be through County funds. This grant provides us with something we really need at Dispatch and saves our taxpayers a significant amount of money.”
