Burglary suspect arrested

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reported an early morning E-911 call on June 23, 2022 about an alarm of front door glass break at the McCreary County Vape Store. Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Jones responded and found the front door of the Vape Store standing open. The owner met Deputy Jones and entered the building after Deputy Jones had cleared it.

Several knives, chargers and vapes were missing from the store. Deputy Jones looked at the camera footage and identified the male from previous encounters. Jones began checking all the open locations. While at Becky’s gas station, Jones recognized the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat of a van. Deputy Jones made contact with the suspect and noticed he was wearing the same clothes as the person in the security camera footage. 

Deputy Jones detained William Shadoan of Whitley City and charged him with Possession of Burglary Tools, Burglary, 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disp all others $1,000 but less than $10,000. Shadoan was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
