Blue Heron Ghost Train, September 10th

September is a great time to bring the family down to Blue Heron for traditional storytelling at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Join us on Saturday, September 10th at 5:00 pm ET for the twelfth annual Big South Fork Ghost Train at the Blue Heron Outdoor Museum.

From 5:00 until 8:00 pm Lone Mountain Sound will provide music with Jarfly Brewery from Somerset selling beverages.  We hope to have local vendors to sell snacks. Storytellers go on stage at 8 pm ET.

During this live event, hear chilling tales spun from the hills and hollows of the Cumberland Plateau. Experience the beauty of Kentucky, and the solitude of Blue Heron Mine-18 as you are entertained by five talented local storytellers.

This event is worth 10 points toward the GO BIG 2022 Challenge.

Mark this exciting and fun event on your calendar and join us as we celebrate this important Appalachian tradition.

Local interpretive actress Beth Ann Kilburn performs during the 2019 Blue Heron Ghost Train event.  The popular attraction, which has seen thousands of visitors since its inception, draws on local history and lore and the culture’s fondness for storytelling to bring the Blue Heron Park to vivid, often spine-tingling life.
