By Eugenia Jones

Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a fatal crash, occurring on Hwy 27 in Pine Knot at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022.   The three vehicle crash occurred just south of Reservoir Road.

According to a preliminary investigation and report by Kentucky State Police, twenty-two year old Lucas Worley of Stearns was driving southbound in a 2004 Jeep Laredo when his vehicle appears to have crossed the lane in front of a 1997 commercial cement truck, striking the truck and then striking a 2012 Nissan SUV.  Worley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Worley was pronounced deceased at the scene by McCreary County Coroner Tim Corder.  A complete obituary for Lucas N. Worley can be found on page 7 of this week’s edition of The Voice.

In addition to KSP and the McCreary County Coroner’s Office, the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office, McCreary County Ambulance Service, South McCreary County Fire Department, Reed’s Wrecker Service, Genoe’s Towing and Recovery, and Kentucky State Highway Department assisted at the scene.

As of press time, KSP has responded to three crashes involving fatalities in McCreary County in less than two weeks.
