The Lady Raiders were in a giving mood Thursday night as they allowed North Laurel to climb pack into the game, and eventually win after squandering a nice lead.

McCreary had a good chance to avenge two early season losses to the Lady Jaguars by jumping out to a 16- 9 lead before allowing North Laurel to scratch their way to 16 of the 17 next points and a 25-17 win in the first set.

The malaise of the latter part of the first match seemed to carry out into the second set as North Laurel jumped out to a commanding lead. McCreary trailed by 10 (14-4) when coach Amy Jones called for a timeout. The Jaguars scored coming out of the timeout, pushing their lead to 15-4 before the Lady Raiders mounted their own comeback.

As the Lady Raiders chipped away, it seemed the team got a second breath and began playing with the intensity not seen since early in the first match, staying right with the Lady Jaguars before finally dropping the set 25-23. The freshman squad picked up a win by topping North Laurel in two sets, 21-18 and 21-15. The JV team also picked up a win by topping the Jaguars 22-20 and 21-15.

Next game: Tuesday at Wayne Co.
