The countdown until Election Day 2022 begins

With Election Day 2022 less than three weeks away, the McCreary County Court Clerk’s office and election board are in the midst of preparing for a busy day of voting on Tuesday, November 8.
“My staff and I are taking every precaution in getting ready for the election,” McCreary County Court Clerk Eric Haynes noted.
Training has already been conducted for poll workers. Additional upcoming preparatory events include the following:
-Today (October 19), staff in the County Clerk’s office are busy getting supplies ready for poll workers.
-Voting machines will be set on Friday, October 21.
-Voting machines will be inspected on Monday, October 24.
Excused early voting (for those out of town on election day, etc.) will be October 26 (W), 27(Th), 28(F), 31(M), and November 1(T), 2(W) from 8:30-4:30. Unexcused early voting (for all who wish to vote early) will be November 3 (Th), 4(F), 5(Sat.) from 8:30-4:30 on the 3rd and 4th and from 8:00-4:00 on Saturday the 5th.
McCreary County Polls will open on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at six voting centers (Pine Knot Elementary Building #2, McCreary County Middle School, Wolf Creek Fire Station, Whitley City Fire Department, North McCreary Fire Department, Eagle Community Center (old Eagle School)). Registered McCreary County voters can vote at any of the six centers regardless of precinct.
Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
A sample McCreary County ballot will run in The Voice on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

Division 1-East Pine Knot and Bethel.
Division 2-Otter Creek, Strunk, Revelo, Elm, and West Pine Knot.
Division 3-Smithtown, Cooperative, and Stearns.
Division 4-South Whitley City, Wolf Creek.
Division 5-North Whitley, Wiborg, Cumberland Falls, Eagle, Mill Creek, Pigeon.
School board member terms are typically staggered with Divisions 2 and 4 expiring at the same time and Divisions 1, 3, and 5 expiring at the same time. Exceptions are when a board member has been appointed rather than elected. In those cases, a division’s school board election may occur sooner.

District 2-Wolf Creek, Cooperative, Smithtown, Otter Creek, Pigeon, South Whitley.

District 4-East Pine Knot, Bethel, Elm.
Magistrate terms expire at the same time. Constable Districts are the same as magistrate districts.
