Crash results in pedestrian fatality

Another pedestrian has died as the result of a second fatal crash involving a pedestrian in McCreary County.
The latest fatal crash occurred Saturday evening (11/19/22) shortly after 7:00 p.m. on U.S. 27 in Whitley City. Thirty-five year old Kenneth L. Troxell was walking on U.S. 27 when he was hit by a red 2005 Chevy pickup truck.
Troxell was transported to the hospital by McCreary County EMS where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The accident is being investigated by Kentucky State Police (KSP). KSP, McCreary County EMS, and Whitley City Fire Department were among the first responders arriving at the scene of the crash.
Saturday night’s crash comes on the heels of a fatal crash that occurred at 9:30 p.m. on November 10. In the November 10 incident, a vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was walking on HWY 27 in Whitley City. On November 11, another nighttime accident occurred on U.S. 27 in Whitley City involving a bicyclist who was struck as he crossed into the path of a vehicle. In that incident, the bicyclist survived but sustained injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky hospital.
