The McCreary County Fun-Makers held their regular monthly meeting, Monday, November 14th. McCreary County’s FCS Agent Leah Cardwell presented information on RADON, the silent killer. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon, an odorless gas, seeps into our houses from the ground. At this time, only 13 homes in McCreary County have been tested for Radon. Our goal is for every homemaker to get their home tested and double the number of homes in the county that have been tested. Free test kits may be obtained from the Health Department or by calling the KY Radon Program at (502)564-4856.
Members paid their dues tonight, anyone who is interested in joining and could not attend tonight’s meeting, can give their dues and registration form to Lisa Musgrove, Kristina McFeeters at Kristina’s Kitchen or to the McCreary County Extension Office by November 30th.
Other items from the November meeting included scheduling a club trip for April 10th to visit one of Kentucky’s remaining covered bridges, amending our By-Laws to set term limits for officers, and doing a slide show presentation overview of Kentucky Extension Homemakers and our programs.
Our December meeting will be a Christmas party with international foods, making Christmas ornaments. Our gift exchange will be a homemade Christmas Ornament.
