McCreary County first responders spent several hours retrieving the body of an individual who fell to his death from a cliffline.
A 26 year old Whitley City man fell to his death after falling approximately 100 feet over a cliff while in a wooded area near the end of Bridge Road off of North Hwy 1561, Whitley City.
The body of Jacob Watson was discovered on Monday morning (December 12, 2022) by two of Watson’s cousins who had been looking for him after he did not return home the prior night. Reportedly, Watson entered the wooded area after he fled from a KDFW traffic stop.
Deputy Coroner Zach Chaney, U. S. Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer Allan Neal, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer Joey Braden, and members of the Whitley City and Pine Knot Fire Departments hiked to the location of the body.
