McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters reports McCreary County Deputies Alex Jones and Dustin Ridner, along with U.S. Marshalls, arrived at a location off of Mine 18 Road in Revelo on December 9, 2022 to locate and apprehend 45 year old Gary Dewayne Cooper for a federal warrant for his arrest. According to the arrest citation, Cooper was located outside of his vehicle and began to flee when he saw law enforcement arrive. After a brief pursuit, Cooper slipped, fell in a ditch, and was apprehended. At the time of apprehension, Cooper reportedly had a zip lock bag with about 26 grams of a crystal like substance appearing to be Methamphetamine, a glass pipe with residue, and a single set of brass knuckles. Law enforcement also found a second zip lock bag with a crystal like powder substance and unidentified pills lying underneath Cooper where he fell.

Cooper was arrested and charged with: (1) Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Offense (2) Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (on foot) (3) Possession Controlled Substance, 3rd Degree-Drug Unspecified (4) Carrying a Concealed Weapon (5) Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess.
Cooper was transported and lodged at the Knox County Detention Center.
