South KY RECC members will vote for the election of directors for the co-ops board in June. Three district seats are up for election and to be eligible to run for a seat, an individual must comply with all qualification requirements in the cooperatives Bylaw Sections which can be located in the sample director election application packet.
The three seats up for election includes District 2 which consists of Adair and Russell County and is currently represented by Director Greg Redmon. District 3 is currently represented by Director Rick Halloran and comprised of Pulaski County, east of Hwy 39, 27 and 1247 including Rockcastle County and District 6 is currently represented by Boris Haynes and includes McCreary County, portions of Southern Pulaski County (including Burnside) and a small portion of Scott County, Tennessee.
Among the most basic requirements: The individual must be a South KY RECC member and must have resided in the board district for which he or she is a candidate and used electric energy by South KY for the preceding one year.
Application packets are available at South KY RECC Office in Somerset. Fully completed packets sealed in the same envelope initially provided must be returned to the front cashiers desk in Somerset no later than next Friday, January 13th at 4:30 EST.
Once the deadline is reached, the credentials and elections committee will review all applications received for timeliness and completeness and the candidate field will be set in February of 2023. To save cooperative financial and labor resources, it’s more efficient and member friendly to conduct the 2023 election by in-person voting using a different third party vendor.
Under this plan, live voting will occur during South Kentucky RECC’s member appreciation day held at the five district offices in early June. More info on dates and times will be made available later. Only the primary account holder is eligible to vote regardless of marital status.
The results of the 2023 Director Election should be completed within one or two days following voting at the last member appreciation day. Newly elected directors will be seated for service on the South KY RECC Board of Directors reasonably soon thereafter. Any election related questions may be emailed to mdgoss@skrecc.com.
