McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy locates fugitive
McCreary County Sheriff David Sampson reported that his office received requests last week from law enforcement agencies in both Barren County and Lexington, KY requesting assistance in locating sixty year old William Charles Moore of Cleveland, TN. Moore had outstanding warrants and was reportedly using stolen credit cards. He allegedly was going into hospitals, medical offices, etc. to steal purses and credit cards. Moore was reportedly linked to McCreary County through his fraudulent use of credit cards.
After being notified about Moore, law enforcement officers with the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office began searching for him. Officers did not recognize Moore from photos. On Friday (January 13, 2023), Deputy Dustin Ridner located Moore at a local motel and placed him under arrest. Moore, who also had outstanding warrants from Corbin, KY was transported and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. As of press time, Moore remains in the Whitley County Detention Center charged with (1) Burglary 3rd Degree (2) Fraudulent Use of Credit Card $1,000<$10,000 (3) Theft of Identity of Another w/o Consent and (4) Contempt of Court. The McCreary County Sheriff’s office provided information about the arrest to all law enforcement agencies who had contacted them about Moore.
