Glenda Dean Mott Shepherd

Glenda Dean Mott Shepherd age 82 of Rocky Hill Road in Bronston, KY passed away on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 at her home and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home in Whitley City, Kentucky with Pastor Jon Remitera and Pastor Daniel McFeeters officiating. Burial was in the Bruce Shepherd Cemetery. Glenda was born on Aril 28, 1940 in Elizabethtown, Illinois to Gordon and Eva Mott. The summer after her 8th grade graduation, Glenda met Gary Shepherd, the love of her life, at a gas station in Collegedale, TN. She thought he was so very handsome with his dark hair and blue eyes. They were married in July 1957 in Whitley City, KY, stayed at the 7 Gables Motel in Burnside and went to Cumberland Falls the next day. Gary and Glenda raised 3 children and, although her first love was to be a housewife and mother, she did work at McKee Bakery for several years, starting out on the lines and then working her way up to Receptionist at Plant 2 and eventually the Personnel Department. When she and Gary moved to Kentucky in 1977, she worked at the Belk Store in Somerset and was one of their top sales people. She was at Gary’s side for many years as he worked as a layman and then full-time pastor in the Seventh Day Church. Gary always said she was his “best asset” while working as pastor. Glenda loved to cook, garden, crochet, sing and play the piano. She is preceded in death by her father, Gordon, mother, Eva, stepfather, Ed Harmon, brothers, Jim and Wade, sister, Susie, and infant brother, Charles Clifford Mott. She is survived by her siter Peggy Lee, and husband Harold of Apison, TN, brother, Wayne Mott and his wife Judy and sister-in-law Jan Mott of Nashville, TN, son James Shepherd and wife Debbie of Ringgold, GA, daughter, Sandra Colangelo and husband Mario and daughter, Sherry Steele all of Bronston, as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Glenda Dean Mott Shepherd.
