Oscar “Fuzz” Cornelius Catron

Oscar “Fuzz” Cornelius Catron, age 91 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Buchanan Place Health and Rehab in New Tazewell, Tennessee. He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on September 15, 1931 the son of Walter and Nora (Perry) Catron. Oscar worked in the sawmill and of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed beehives, fishing, talking, and telling stories. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Melvin Catron and Charles Catron; daughters, Barbara Smith and Joyce Nipper; and brothers, Lawrence Vanover, Sr., Calvin Catron, Cecil Perry, and Jr. Catron. Survivors include his sons, James Catron and Donald Catron both of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; daughters, Shirley Perry of Raven, Virginia, Linda Worley (Eddie) of Berea, Kentucky, and Jeannie Crabtree of Corbin, Kentucky; ex-wife, Betty Catron of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; sisters, Julie Blankenship of Westland, Michigan and Jewel “Mossie” Brooks of Florence, Kentucky; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 1pm Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Meadors officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Knob Cemetery. The family will received friends after 11am Thursday at the Funeral Home. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
