Car Theft – Early Monday morning (March 6, 2023), an employee at Ricky Longmire’s Auto Sales on HWY 27 realized a bright red 2018 Dodge Ram crew cab truck had been stolen during the prior night. Additionally, the perpetrator (s) took the keys and titles to all vehicles on the car lot. McCreary County Sheriff David Sampson and Chief Deputy Dustin Ridner responded to the scene and are pursuing leads in the case. Since this is the second recent incident of this nature, Chief Deputy Ridner stated car dealerships are currently being targeted for theft. He urges car dealerships to exercise extra caution by taking all keys and titles home overnight. Deputy Ridner said the McCreary County Sheriff’s Department is increasing patrols at local dealerships.
