On Wednesday (March 1, 2023), Attorney David Hoskins from Corbin represented McCreary County School Superintendent Dr. John Gunn in Gunn’s arraignment hearing. The hearing was held in McCreary County District Court and presided over by a District Judge, the Honorable Fred White. Dr. Gunn pled not guilty to the charge of possession of a weapon (handgun) on school grounds.
Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Josh Lowe represented the Commonwealth.
As a motion to set a cash bond was previously filed by the Commonwealth’s Attorney and County Attorney’s offices, Lowe asked Judge White to set a cash bond of $5,000. Dr. Gunn’s attorney requested a bond of 10% of $10,000 be set.
Judge White ordered a cash bond of $5,000 and for Dr. Gunn to not have contact with school personnel or be on school property. Judge White also ordered Dr. Gunn to be processed and fingerprinted.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
