Teresa Lynn Shannon

Teresa Lynn Shannon, age 67, loving wife and mother passed away at her home in Stearns, on March 10, 2023 after a long illness and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Teresa was born on March 19, 1955 to Reverend Harvey Matthew Sr. and Mable Inman Matthews. Teresa obtained her GED and attended Somerset Community College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Teresa loved taking care of others and spent several years working as an RN. Aside from God, Teresa’s greatest love was her family. She married Lonnie Shannon in 1972, and along with their two children they made a wonderful life in McCreary County, Ky. Teresa was a shining example of a Christian wife and mother. A true Proverbs 31 woman. She raised her family in church and made sure her children knew about the Lord. Even though Teresa’s health suffered tremendously over the last 25 years she stood steadfast in her faith and did not miss a chance to share all that the Lord had done for her. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother; Harvey Matthews Jr. Teresa is survived by her husband, Lonnie and their two children: Daughter Stacy Tucker and husband Aaron of Clinton, TN; son Dustin Shannon and wife Aubrey of Pine Knot, KY. Five grandchildren who were the lights of her life; Dakota, Colby, and Bailey Tucker of Clinton, TN and Ethan and Mackenzie Shannon of Pine Knot, KY; Precious siblings: Brother Danny Joe Matthews and wife Fran of Wiborg, KY; brother Donald Matthews and wife Sandie of Jasper, AL and sister Deborah Worley and husband Roger of Smithtown, KY. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and friends who were like family. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Teresa Lynn Shannon. Obituary written by family.
