Friday, February 24th, members submitted cultural arts entries to be judged in the county contest. Blue Ribbon winners will be taken to Taylor County on Thursday, March 16th for Lake Cumberland Area judging. Area Blue Ribbon winners will then go to the State judging in May. KEHA Cultural Arts had 94 categories, McCreary County will be represented in ten areas: Basketry – Cane- June Williams, Basketry – Dyed Material – Beverly McKnight, Basketry – Novelty – June Williams, Basketry – Plain – June Williams, Embroidery – Candle Wicking – Rita Perry, Counted Cross Stitch – Rita Perry, Doll/Toy Making – Cloth- Amanda McKnight, Ceramics – Molded- Amanda McKnight, Wall or Door Hanging – Spring – Beverly McKnight, Apparel – basic sewing – Rita Perry.
Monday, March 13th, during our regular meeting, along with routine business, we discussed our covered bridge trip for April 10th. We also discussed carpooling and name tags for the area meeting in Wayne County April 27th. FSC agent Leah had a extension board meeting so she sent the materials for a lesson, “Making the Most of Meals While Traveling,” We discussed the information in the lesson and shared travel experience.
