Robert “Bob” D. Jones, age 84 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Monday, March 20, 2023 at home in Stearns, Kentucky. Bob was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on March 12, 1939 the son of the late Rufus and Eva (Perkins) Jones. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Thelma (Jones) Jones; sister, Bertha Ross; and brother, Noble Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa (Allen) West of Stearns, Kentucky; sons, Scott (Carol) Jones of Stearns, Kentucky, Mike (Sherri) Jones of Pine Knot, Kentucky; and Joe (Annessa) Jones of Whitley City, Kentucky; grandchildren, Ashley (Eric) Anderson of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Allison (Mark) Morgan of Somerset, Kentucky, Ryan (Alisha) West of Strunk, Kentucky, Travis (Megan) Jones of Ashland, Kentucky, Aaron (Jason) Vanderpool of Cincinnati, Ohio, Chase (Kourtney) Jones of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Cole (Casey) Jones of Winchester, Kentucky, Tyler (Katie) Jones of Anchorage, Alaska, Krystina Howard of Whitley City, Kentucky, Cody (Tara) Baker of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kelli Baker of Whitley City, Kentucky; 15 great grandchildren; and brothers, Porter Jones of Burnside, Kentucky and Paul (Ruth) Jones of Tiffin, Ohio. Bob worked at Tiffin Ohio Glass House, Kahn’s Meat Packing Plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, owned and operated an Exxon Service Station in Stearns, Kentucky, was Jailer for McCreary County, night watchman for Blue Diamond Coal Company, drove a school bus for the McCreary County Schools until he retired and was a member of the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church. His enjoyments were going to church, spending time with his family, raising chickens, gardening, and playing BINGO. Funeral services were held 2pm Friday, March 24, 2023 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Coffey and Bro. Timothy Corder officiating. Burial followed in the Rock Springs Cemetery. The family received friends after 12pm Friday at the Funeral Home. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
